Pattern talk: share the most flattering patterns for your body shape, Saturday 20th June 19:00-20:00
Share your Top 5 most flattering patterns for our #devonsews guide, the guide will be made available for PDF download to raise funds for the NHS. If you’d like to be featured in the guide please send a high resolution photo of you working in your sewing space. Bring a glass of wine or other cold sparkling beverage of your choice!
#devonsews Virtual Sewing Sewcial, Sunday 26th July 11:00-12:00
A simple virtual sewing room, we’ll begin with a coffee and talk about our makes, then do some socially distanced group sewing. We suggest a simple free jersey pattern, such as the French Navy patterns Stellan tee. The hosts will be available to chat and help with sewing advice.
We are open to suggestions for more virtual meet ups too, please follow us on Instagram @devonsewsmeetups and our Facebook page, Devon Sews Meet Ups and post your comments below.
We would also like to support our local fabric shops, please contact us if you’d be interested in contributing to a Summer Sewing Fabric show. Our members would be keen to see your fabrics to order live online, with some ideas for projects to sew with them. Send me an Insta message @shelovestomake.uk or firstname.lastname@example.org to register your interest.
If you’d like to make a contribution to us for organising and hosting the meet ups you can buy us a coffee here. We will use the funds to invest in equipment and publicity to make our online meet ups even better!
We hope to see you at a Zoom meet up soon…

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to come for the whole weekend?
No, you can absolutely pick and mix which activities you come to, and there are limited places available to sew with us on the Saturday afternoon. You might like to visit Barbican Fabrics at Plymouth’s historic Barbican and Waterfront (great ice cream and coffee available at local cafes!), or Hobbycraft Plymouth at this time, or just do your own thing – if you don’t have a place.
Why do I need to book to attend the dinner and lunch events?
We will need to make reservations with the respective restaurants to accommodate a large group, this needs to be done in advance.
Will there be future meet ups closer to me?
Yes, plans are to host future events across the South West, to sew in beautiful locations and develop a group to build a connected community more locally. At present many of us travel to national or even international events to meet other sewists, in the future #devonsews can attend them either as a group or organise events in the region, drawing in more visitors who can see the wonderful, and diverse dressmaking taking place in the South West.
Can I bring another guest with me, who won’t be sewing?
You are welcome to bring a guest with you, however we cannot promise there will be enough seating or an afternoon tea for them.
